Background
Robert trained at Gold Jennings between 2020 and 2022 prior to qualification as a solicitor into the firm’s Civil Claims Against Public Authorities team.
Prior to joining Gold Jennings, Robert worked at Leigh Day where he acted on behalf of claimants in high-profile human rights cases against multi-national companies. He has also worked as a caseworker on the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
Expertise
Robert has a varied caseload that includes a range of civil claims and against public authorities, including the police. These claims are often factually and legally complex. He also represents bereaved families in inquest proceedings that engage Article 2 ECHR. Recently, Robert has acted for claimants in claims for judicial review against local authorities for failures to provide support for young people in breach of the Children Act.
Robert has also helped clients challenge the lawfulness of their immigration detention and the seizure of their possessions by the Home Office. Since qualification, he has also represented individuals who are the victims of historic sexual abuse.
Developing areas of work include representing the families of victims of domestic violence who have been killed by their abusive partners and relatively novel claims against NHS Trusts for their failure to store bodies of deceased people in their care with due respect and dignity.
Robert is a member of Justice and the Police Action Lawyers Group
