Tim is a member of our Civil Actions Against Public Authorities team and has worked for Gold Jennings for over six years.
Tim has a busy and successful practice representing claimants in civil claims against a wide range of public authorities, with a particular expertise in claims against the police and prison authorities.
Tim also represents bereaved families in Inquest proceedings following deaths in state custody, or where there has been an arguable failure by the state in its obligation under Article 2 ECHR to protect life.
Combining his experience in police actions and inquests, in recent years Tim has developed a sub-specialism representing the families of victims of victims of domestic violence who have been killed by their abusive partners. Often involving failures by the police to protect victims, these are particularly complex cases involving difficult issues of fact and law.
Tim has a longstanding academic interest in the law, which he turned into a career after achieving a distinction in the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Brighton in 2013. He qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2018.
Before joining Gold Jennings, Tim worked at a charitable foundation providing grants to small charities and community groups across Sussex. He has been a committee member and volunteer at a number of grassroots community projects promoting social justice, cycling and co-operative housing, and he continues to be active in the sector.
