Victim Rights

We have considerable experience representing survivors of serious criminal offences, including domestic abuse, human trafficking, rape and other sexual offences, in a range of actions designed to hold police and relevant authorities to account.

Our work for victims includes:

  • Pursuing Victim’s Right to Review (VRR) challenges to police and CPS decisions to take no further action against perpetrators.
  • Applications for judicial review challenges to negative VRR outcomes and other related public law issues.
  • Claims for compensation involving failures to investigate and/ or to protect contrary to police duties imposed by European Convention of Human Rights. See Police Misconduct for more detail.

We undertake this work on both a privately funded and legally aided basis with the latter subject to the usual financial and merits criteria. As we recognise that not everyone who needs legal advice is either eligible for legal aid or can afford to pay firms at their usual commercial rates, we are prepared to offer competitive fees on no win low fee (CFA) basis in appropriate cases.

We also represent families who have lost loved ones in situations involving domestic violence. See Inquests for more information.
